MedGenome bags $48M Series E funding
Indian genomics diagnostics company MedGenome has secured $47.5 million in Series E funding from a round led by private equity firm Maj Invest.
Founded in 2013, MedGenome offers over 1,300 genetic tests developed with end-to-end multi-omics capabilities.
The company will reportedly deploy its new funds to expand its genomic and integrated diagnostics offerings across India.
"India’s healthcare ecosystem is increasingly recognising the transformative potential of genomics, driving innovation and enhancing the country’s healthcare capabilities," noted CEO Dr Vedam Ramprasad.
Early this year, the Indian government unveiled the Indian Genomic Dataset, which provides access to whole-genome samples from the Indian population for genomic research. Complementing its goal to sequence 10 million genomes representing Indian diversity, in July, the government launched the Phenome India National Biobank, which takes inspiration from the United Kingdom Biobank.
